Description
Japanese Tea Ceremony
Traditionally at the heart of Japanese culture, the special matcha tea ceremony (Chanoyu) is also known as ‘The Way of Tea’. It is a perfect demonstration of etiquette and grace, and brings a feeling of peace, harmony and happiness.
To embrace the Japanese tradition and perform the ceremony at home, you’ll need your bowl (chawan), whisk (chasen), and traditional bamboo scoop (momoka) Traditional Japanese Matcha tea starter kit includes everything you need to start right away. While you’re preparing your matcha tea, it’s a time to relax, unwind and take yourself away from the worries of the day.
To serve one
In your bowl, mix half a level teaspoon in to a paste using around 40mls of cold water.
Whisk (ideally with a bamboo chasen) in an ‘M’ shape until frothy.
Heat another 150mls of water to around 70°C, stir in to the paste and drink immediately.
To make a latte, replace the water with your milk of choice, adding a dash of honey.

Loving my new matcha set. I take the time out each day to go through my little ritual and make my small cup of zen. Perfect! Thanks Kanuka.

A lovely set to start your Matcha experience. The tea is of very good consistency and taste. However, its origin is not declared on the package so it is unknown where exactly it comes from.

Dear Lars,
Many thanks for your feedback. I appreciate we haven’t specified our region in Japan that our tea comes from but I can confirm our matcha is sourced from a small eco-run farm in Shizuoka. This is stated on the website, we just didn’t have lots of space on the packaging. Kindest Regards, the Kanuka Team.

Just made my first matcha latte with my new matcha starter kit. It was very yummy, easy to mix and the bowl is a great size too, lots of other sets available online seem tiny so this fits the bill for me. Great fast service too.
