Grassy, sweet and delicate.
Once fed to silk caterpillars, the vast leaves of the Japanese mulberry tree – known in Japanese legend as ‘dragon god’ – are now cultivated for Mulberry tea infusion. In line with traditional Japanese tea culture, the leaves are hand picked and steam distilled, which contributes to their unique and delicate taste.
Caffeine class: Naturally caffeine-free.
How it tastes: Delicately reminiscent of green tea: slightly grassy and sweet.
To serve one: Heat 250mls of water to 100°C. Add 1 heaped tsp, allow to infuse for 5-10 minutes
Why it’s special: The Japanese, Chinese and Koreans in particular use steeped Mulberry tea leaves as they hold high levels of antioxidants, as well as other beneficial nutrients.
