Our beautiful sencha is from one of the oldest plantations is Shimzu, Japan – this district has long been renowned for it fine tea. The farm we chose is environmentally responsible and well known for its produce.
This tea has a mellow umami taste with slightly grassy undertones. ‘Umami’ is the Japanese word for the fifth type of tastebuds in your mouth which recognise strong, salty and meatier flavours. Because of this umami taste, some say that sencha is a little like Marmite – you either love or you hate it!
